Note in the Register: "The ancient Register of this Chapelry beginning 1589 & ending 1755, & another beginning 1755, were consumed in the great Fire at Wareham

The register was very poorly kept in the late 18th and early 19th centuries, with gaps lasting several years and inexplicable discrepancies with the Bishop's Transcripts. Between 1797 and 1812 the Christening Register was used almost exclusively to record the birth and christening dates of Richard & Elizabeth Talbot, a wealthy yeomanry family in the parish.
