The church of St. Michael is a stone edifice in the Perpendicular style, and consists of chancel, nave, north aisle, south porch, embattled tower with pinnacles, containing 5 bells: one was added in 1747; with the exception of the tower the whole was rebuilt in 1858, architecturally in accordance with the ancient handsome tower: the east window is small but handsome, and is said to be an adaptation from a window in Westminster Abbey: upon the underside of the beam in the tower which supports the belfry floor a crozier and a beadroll are sculpted: the font is Norman and ancient. The register dates from 1558. The living is a rectory, yearly value £160, with residence, in the gift of H S Bower esq. of Fontmell Parva, and held since 1867 by the Rev. Edward Walter Fox, B.A., of Wadham College, Oxford, and formerly a chaplain in the Royal Navy. There is no manor.
