Will of Hester How 1783
Transcript of the Will of Hester How (spinster) made 1783 Probate 1783 from a copy of the original on film from the Dorset History Centre (Blanford 26) by Bob Hills.
In the name of God Amen I Hester Howe of Marnhull in
the County of Dorset Spinster being of sound mind memory and understanding
Do this fifteenth day of May One thousand Seven hundred and Eighty three
make ordain publish and declare this to be my last Will and Testament
in manner and form following (that is to say) First I give and bequeath
unto my mother Sarah Howe of Marnhull aforesaid widow the sum of two
Shillings and Sixpence weekly and every week for and during the term of her
natural Life to be paid her by Mr John Brickle of Shaftesbury in the said
County of Dorset Gentleman To my Cousin Phillis Jervis of Marnhull
aforesaid Spinster I give the sum of five Guineas and to her brother
James Jervis of the same place labourer I give and bequeath the Sum of
two Guineas To my Sister in law Grace Howe of Marnhull aforesaid
widow I give the Sum of three Guineas To my brother Morgan Howe of Marnhull aforesaid labourer I give the Sum of ten pounds To my
Sister Mary Jervis, Ann Warren and Sarah Jervis I also give the
Sum of Ten pounds each. To all my Cousins I give the Sum of Ten
pounds to be equally divided between them Share and Share alike
To my Cousin Mary the wife of Edward Warren I give the Sum of Five
Guineas All which said Legacies I will and direct to be paid by my
Executrix hereinafter named in three months next after my decease
All my best wearing Apparel of what nature or kind soever I give and
bequeath to my Executrix hereinafter named my second best cloathes
I give and bequeath to my said Sister Ann Warren And my third or worst
I give and bequeath to my Sister Sarah Warren of Marnhull aforesaid And after payment of all my just debts and funeral Expenses I do hereby

direct and appoint all my Legacies to be paid in manner and form
aforesaid And I do make and appoint my Sister the said Mary Jevis
sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament and revoke all
former Wills by me at any time heretobefore made In Witness whereby
I have to this my said last will and Testament contained in two sides of
Paper set my hand to the first and my hand to the last side
thereof the day and Year first before written

On the 10th day of June 1783 the Will of Hester Howe
deceased was proved by the Oath of Mary Jervis the lawful
Sister of the deceased and Sole Executrix above named to whom
Administration of all and Singular the Goods Chatteles &
Credits of the said deceased ???? She being first
duly sworn will & faithfully to Administer the same to make
a true and perfect Inventory thereof and Exhibit the same
unto the Registry of the Archdeacon of Dorset and give a just
Account ???? when therefore lawfully required
