PAMPHILL, adjoining Wimborne Minster on the north-west, was constituted a separate civil parish out of Wimborne by an order of the Dorset County Council, 23 June 1894, and confirmed by the Local Government Board, Sept 18 1894, in accordance with the "Local Government Act 1894".
The parish includes Pamphill, Hill Butts, Kingston Lacy and Cowgrove. It is in the Eastern division of the county, Badbury hundred, Wimborne union, county court district and petty sessional division.
Kingston Lacy, a handsome stone mansion standing in a park of 420
acres, is the seat of Walter Ralph Bankes esq. D L, J P who is Lord of the Manor
and sole landowner.
Wall letter box, Hill Butts, cleared at 8am & 6pm. No collection on Sundays.
National School: (boys & girls), built 1698, for 90 children; average attendance 77; supported partly by endowment from Gillingham's charity; John Albert Nicholson, Master.
