 Over the opening to the Hagioscope, on the east side, is a Tablet to the Rev James Lukin B D, who was Vicar from 1640 to 1671.

Brass Of Roger Cheverell

 Formerly inserted in a stone in the Nave near to the Chancel step, it is the demi-effigy of a civilian (the lower portion is missing), with bare head, and hands joined in prayer. Below, on a rectangular plate, is a Latin inscription. Translated as:

 “Here lies Roger Cheverell, son and heir of John Cheverell Esquire, who died on the 14^th day of August, in the year of the Lord, 1517, on whose soul may God have mercy. Amen.”

 Below are two shields bearing the arms of Cheverell, one of them impaling Raves. From this Roger Cheverell, or Sacheverell was descended the famous Dr Sacheverell, 1674 – 1726.

 Against the west wall of the chapel is a large mural monument to the Brune Family, unfortunately illegible, which records the burial here of three members of the family:

 Sir John Brune of Athelhampton, who married Margaret, daughter of Sir Edward Seymour and dying without issue, was buried March 25, 1639, aged 62 years.

His brother Charles Brune, who married Mary, daughter of Robert coker of Mappowder, and died October 17, 1637, aged 50.

John Brune, eldest son of the above Charles who married Marie, daughter of Edward Hooper of Boveridge, and died March 24^th, 1645. His daughter Marie was married to Sir Ralph Bankes, Knt of Corfe Castle. (Sir Ralph as stated above was the son of Sir John Bankes and “Brave Dame Mary”. He built Kingston Lacy House, Wimborne)

 This Altar Tomb lies in the south-west corner of the Chantry, on it lies the effigies of a Knight and a Lady, carved in Ham hill stone. Possibly 13^th century.

Built over these figures is an Altar tomb, surmounted by a canopy which is supported by four pillars.

Fixed to the wall at the back is the Brass of Nicholas Martyn, who died in 1595.

The inscription reads:

“Here lyeth the Body of Nicholas Martyn Esquier who departed this life & slept with his Fathers ye 23 day of March ano: 1595 & left behind to inherit his lands iiii daughters Coheires Elizabeth Frances Jane & Anne whose soule assvredly doth rest with Abraha Isacke & Jacob in ye kingdom of heaven.”

13^th Century Soldier of Ham Hill.

Under the large south window lies the effigy of a Knight in a plate armour, with a basinet on his head, his hands being joined in prayer. He lies upon a low altar tomb beneath a canopy. Possibly dated a little before 1400.

 Against the east wall of the Sanctuary is a Mural Tablet, now illegible, to the Rev William Bradish D D, Vicar of Puddletown from 1611 to 1639. The inscription originally read:

 “QUE COETUM HUNC PIETATE ANTIQUA, ET OPERA ASSIDUA PER ANNOS XXVIII INSTITUIT HIC PLACIDE OBDORMIT, VIR OMNI ERUDITIONE, MORUMQUE SUAVITATE EXECULTISSIMUS GULIELMUS BRADESHIUS SACRAE THEOLOGIAE PROFESSOR COLL. EMAN. CANTAB. OLIM ALUMNUS”

May be translated as:

“Here sleeps peacefully the man who for 27 years presided over this Guild (or Gathering) with all the piety of the ages of faith, and with unfailing energy. He was unrivalled for his extensive learning and for the sweetness of his disposition. His name was William Bradish: he was educated at Emmanuel College, Cambridge and Professor of Theology.

Over the south door is a Mural Tablet to the Hon Henry Dawnay, D D, Vicar of Puddletown from 1722 to 1754. (Now almost illegible)
