Portland Town Criers 1851 - 1861 William HINDE born at Portland in September 1790, son of Henry and Rebecca Hinde. Married Sarah Peters at Portland in 1827 and in 1841 was a tailor, but in the census returns of 1851 and 1861 he is the Town Crier. He does not appear in the 1865 Harrod's Directory, and he died at Portland in December 1869. |
